The influence, roots and history of wall mounted fountains interestingly enough can be traced to irrigation. It is said that these figures were reportedly first placed in its earliest forms during the Babylonian times and the famous hanging gardens may attest to this hypothesis that somehow homes during those eras were able to divert water to their abodes not just for personal hygiene and consumption but also to serve as a source for their inner gardens. Others can trace its roots to the roman times with the construction of aqua ducts; Romans used their engineering prowess and creativity to divert water from such pathways to their homes, giving them supply for drinking and hygienic purposes. In fact, most wall mounted fountains do pay tribute to its roman roots and influences through their designs.

Wall mounted fountains these days are inexpensive to purchase. The ranges of prices start at over a 100 dollars to thousands of dollars for more elaborate and heavier designs. The wall mounted fountains are normally made of fiberglass and other light resin materials that are waterproof, and lightweight. This makes it easier to deliver and to maintain and managed.

There are several types of wall mounted fountains to choose from. There are those made of solid slates which are commonly used as center pieces for buildings and offices. There are those also made of solid marble which are main attractions at ground floors of buildings. There are lightweight slates which can be used in homes and those made of pebbles as well, which add character to one’s home. For those modernists, there are those made of metal and mirror and glass which puts an art deco touch to the wall mounted fountains. Fiberglass and other resin type of wall mounted fountains are those with small apartments and condominiums since they are lightweight and easily transportable and can be moved from one location to the other if needs be.

Wall mounted fountains are most useful because the sound of water offers tranquility to the home. It is a distressful apparatus meant to relax the home owners. The high stress jobs and pressures of life these days must be counterbalanced with tones and sounds that elicit placidness and calm. A wall mounted fountain greatly serves its purpose not because it has a look that can be appreciated by the owner, but it has the effect of helping the owner find his or her center, his or her balance. And that is what one is truly paying for in a wall mounted fountain.
