Do you want to enhance your home with an indoor fountain? Indoor fountains stimulate all five senses, act as a conversation piece for guests and are available in so many different styles that you can easily find one to suit your décor. Water Fountain Place experts want people to know how simple it is to install one, so they’ve contributed an easy four step process.

Step One: Find the Right Spot for Your Indoor Fountain

Free standing indoor fountains are incredibly portable so you can install them almost anywhere. There are really only a few things to keep in mind. First of all, you should make sure that the floor space is relatively level. This ensures that any mist from the fountain spreads out evenly and that in situations where someone trips over or otherwise jostles the indoor fountain, it’s less likely to spill. The fountain should also be placed within easy reach of an outlet, preferable in such a way as you can hide unsightly cords. One of the best ways to do this is to use nearby plants to conceal the power cord. This works especially well because the fountain will keep the plants healthy by increasing ambient moisture.

If you’re installing an indoor wall fountain you need to deal with one other requirement: a wall strong enough to support the fountain. The water fountain’s instructions should provide clear guidelines. In any event, don’t install a wall fountain on a decorative wall or hang it from nothing but drywall.

Step Two: Deal with Moisture Issues Around the Indoor Fountain

Next, you should make sure your indoor water fountain rests on a moisture resistant surface. Even though well-crafted indoor fountains are water tight there will still be some condensation. One common solution is to cut a layer of Plexiglas large enough to create 12 inches of space around the indoor fountain. 12 inches of clearance is a good basic guideline when it comes to preventing moisture problems in nearby furniture or wallpaper. If your indoor fountain is a wall fountain make sure the wall material is relatively moisture resistant. Don’t worry about it too much as most wall fountains are designed to put a little bit of space between condensation and the wall surface itself.

Step Three: Assemble Your Indoor Fountain On-Site

Whenever possible, assemble your indoor fountain at the installation site. Indoor fountains are stationary pieces of décor. Even though many models (especially tabletop indoor fountains) are both lightweight and simple to install in many cases you’ll save yourself a lot of headaches by putting the fountain together right where you intend it to stay. In many cases all you need to do is plug it in, fill it with water and turn it on, but make sure to always read the indoor fountain’s instructions thoroughly before turning it on. Note any required pieces. Plus, indoor fountains almost never come with “spare parts.” If you have anything left over, you’re missing a step.

If your indoor water fountain is a wall fountain, you’ll have to go through the steps of installing mounting brackets. In this case, make sure the brackets are securely held, and make sure you’re capable of lifting and holding the wall fountain in place to mount it properly. In all likelihood, this will be a two person job, so plan accordingly.

Step Four: Fill Your Indoor Fountain – Then Turn It On!

Fill your indoor fountain with water, make sure the power cord is firmly fixed and away from any misting, then turn it on – it’s that simple. Fill the fountain to the level noted in instructions. If a specific water volume is listed, use a container to transfer the water that lets you note exactly how much of it you’re pouring in. Don’t run the fountain pump “dry.” From then on, all you need to do is check on the indoor fountain’s flow and water quality, cleaning it when required.

It’s spring time once again – that magical time of year when plants and shrubs come alive with bloom, and the fragrant smell of flowers permeates the air. This year, take your garden from pretty to unforgettable with these five easy tips:

1. Select annuals with an eye for color, height and visual interest. When you’re filling out the empty spots in your garden beds with annuals, add in a variety of colors and heights to keep your garden visually interesting and appealing. A mixture of plants of varying heights will keep the eye trained on it, and searching out little treasures. Don’t have much room? Look for unique plants that have enough beauty to stand out in the crowd.

2. Add decorative edging to garden beds. Stone or faux-stone, brick, slate and other garden edgings are relatively inexpensive and help protect your garden investment. The edging provides a barrier making it visually easier to avoid accidentally weed-whacking or mowing over precious blooms. They also add an interesting architectural element to the garden, and can help plants to really stand out from your lawn. Installing your edging in a curved pattern can help provide a sense of movement to the garden, and contrasts nicely against the straight lines of most house faces.

3. Add seating to your yard. Whether you choose a stone bench, wrought iron chairs, or even plastic chairs for your yard, arrange them in such a way that you can sit on long summer evenings and enjoy the sounds of nature and the sights and smells of your garden. This will not only help you to better appreciate the hours of work you’ve put in on your garden, it will also provide a nice, lived-in feeling to the gardens themselves, inviting admirers to sit down and enjoy the beauty contained therein.

4. Feed the birds. Add birdfeeders to your garden area, either hanging from a sturdy tree branch, or on specially designed shepherd’s crooks and watch your garden come alive with life! Depending on your zone, a hummingbird feeder may entice those beautiful, busy creatures to linger in your garden. Living creatures to observe adds to the charm of a garden, and can also help keep garden pests down.

5. Decorate your garden with garden ornaments! Adding wind chimes, garden gnomes, decorative garden stakes, stepping stones, garden statues, garden wall plaques and garden fountains to your garden enhances the charm and visual interest of the garden. Choose a theme, or just select pieces you love, and watch your garden come alive with your personality! Each personalized touch you add proudly announces to the world that this is your garden haven- as unique and wonderful as you are.

By following the five steps outlined above, you too can take your garden from ho-hum to spectacular. Add curb appeal, personality and visual interest to your garden today for a garden you’ll treasure for years to come!

It will be a brilliant idea to have a fountain in a garden. The sound of bubbling water is lovely to hear; it helps a person to calm down and creates natural effects in the garden. Fountains sound beautiful and custom made fountains really come with heavy price tags. One can build it personally even if there is not too much knowledge on how to build it. This simple article explains the basic steps to build a fountain.

Procedure and guide
A fountain can be simply made by recycling pots and installing a water pump in it. The things needed are submersible pump, tubes, and terra cotta pots and rocks. It is easy to purchase these items from garden supply stores. It is recommended to build a fountain on the spot that would like to be placed so that it does not need to be moved later. It has to be made sure that the power cord is sufficiently long enough so that it can easily reach the nearest electrical outlet. Before purchasing the materials, the size of the pot has to be selected first so that it will be known what kind of submersible pump is to be bought.

First, a layer of waterproof sealer is to be brushed to the inner part of the pot and it should be left to set for a while. Pots with drainage hole are needed so that no drilling would be required. The plug has to be pulled through the hole and the pump has to be placed inside the pot. A gap of a few inches has to be left because pea gravel has to be poured later into the pot for the pump to sit on, then the cord outside the pot can be taped for securing its position. After that, the pot has to be placed on the pot feet where the fountain is preferred to be situated.

The gap of the drainage hole is to be filled with silicon sealer so the water will not leak out from the bottom. It should be given at least a day or two to completely dry before using it, then 3 to 4 inches of pea gravel can be poured in to level up the pump. Before the bubbling fountain nozzle is installed to the pump, it has to be made certain that the pot is sufficiently deep. The nozzle must be a few inches away from the lip of the pot.

Finally, the pot can now be filled with water, the water pump is to be turned on and it’s done. These attractive fountains can be used together by placing a small pot in a large tub for creating multiple fountains. Placing water plants in larger pots is also a good idea to decorate these fountains.

Considering buying an outdoor fountain but feeling a little overwhelmed by all the choices? Here’s how to choose an outdoor fountain in five easy steps.

1. Consider Your Maintenance Routine. Are you the type of person who keeps up with the maintenance in your yard, or do you tend to let things go a bit? Take a peek outside. Are there weeds in your flower bed? That should tell you something. And if so, that’s okay. When you purchase an outdoor fountain, just select a more casual style in a moderate size so the upkeep is simple and minimal and one that goes with the rest of your yard.

On the other hand, if your yard is meticulous and you thrive on doing all the little upkeep activities to keep it that way, a formal fountain may be more your style-and you can go with a larger size because you’ll do a good job of keeping up with the cleaning, clearing debris from the water and the pump, and other tasks associated with a large outdoor fountain.

2. Highlight Your Personality. When selecting an outdoor fountain, consider your individual personality-or the collective personality of your family and your home. Are you formal and meticulous or warm, witty, and whimsical? If you’re the former, a traditional, symmetrical fountain is probably your best pick. If you’re the latter, you might love an outdoor fountain featuring frogs or a frog spitter, puddle ducks, or squirrels. Do you have a particular fondness for angels or gargoyles? They make water fountains featuring them-and many other themes that might match up with one of your collections or passions.

3. Think About Other Family Members. This may sound odd, but consider your other family members before selecting your outdoor fountain-including your four legged friends. Will you mind if your dog drinks from the fountain? If not, you might want to get one where the water basin stands at an appropriate height so he can easily reach it without jumping up. If you don’t, consider an outdoor fountain where the basin is higher and the dog won’t be able to reach the pool of water.

Do you have small children? Is there any chance they will climb in, on, or around your fountain? If so, you want to be sure your outdoor fountain won’t tip easily so your child doesn’t get hurt. You’ll also want to be sure the size of the pool of water in the basin doesn’t pose a drowning hazard, as well, particularly if children are ever left unattended in the yard.

4. Evaluate Your Outdoor Space. If you have a small yard or a tiny covered patio, you can still have an outdoor fountain. But you may not want to purchase an extra large fountain that overwhelms the available space. There are many outdoor fountain options, and there’s an option for every space available. You might want to consider a tabletop fountain to sit on a small ornate table on your patio or a wall fountain that can be mounted on the side of your house. Either way, you’ll get all the great benefits of a fabulous water feature while still keep the fountain in proportion to the rest of your home and outdoor living space.

5. Shop Around. Don’t necessarily buy the first fountain you see. Take a look at department stores, discount stores, lawn and garden stores, boutique and gift shops, and online. Get a good idea of all the different options available before you make your decision-since this isn’t a purchase you’ll make every day and you want it to be perfect for your area. Make an educated choice and purchase at a price you’ll be pleased with, too.

And now I’d like to invite you to learn more about how to Buy Outdoor Fountains or check out all Fountains Outdoor

This evening I was sitting in my house around 10pm. I heard something hitting my window, like someone throwing stones. It hit 3-4 times very hard. I thought they were the next building neighbor’s kids. They ring the bells and escape sometimes. I thought they’re playing. I went out to my back garden and walked to the space between two buildings, where also is the basement floor entrance. I saw a guy between the buildings (that hallway looking space is connected to back garden also) and I said hey what’s going on here? (Thinking that he has an idea who’s hitting the windows) I thought he was the basement floor neighbor. He didn’t say a word and started running towards me cursing. You m.effer etc. He had something in his hand, like a discman. And I said hey wait I live here!! He didn’t stop and raised his hand, I started running inside but he threw me the discman in the head at a very close distance and it hit back of my head as I was running from him. I got in the house and he chased me to the door, entering my garden. I closed the door and my 2 friends called the police immediately.

My head was bleeding like a fountain. We put some towels and pressed until the ambulance came. The police arrested the guy (turned out to be my neighbor downstairs. He has a separate entrance between buildings, and I enter the building from other side, so I really didn’t know he was my neighbor. I never saw the guy before) and he told the police we were making noise. We do have parties some weekends and we are very loud when we party, but tonight even the TV wasn’t on. But after listening to me, the police took him.

I went to hospital, they made 7 stitches and worst part is as it in my head, they couldn’t stitch it. They used staple gun on my head after local anesthesia.

The police told me to come to the station to testify. I don’t have health insurance so I will probably receive $2000-3000 hospital bill, which I can’t pay.

What steps should I take legally? Anything to mention while testifying? How about the hospital bill? What’s gonna happen to him? How am I gonna be safe in my house after this event?

Thank you for your replies.

Wall fountains are ideal for maintaining humidity, removing allergens from the air and suppressing external noises. They are also an excellent tool to help you relax and rid yourself of the stresses that have built up throughout the day.

As well as providing all those benefits, a wall fountain can look pretty neat in your home or garden and make a great point of focus or gentle backdrop, depending how you use it.

For something so unique, with all its beauty and health benefits, it needs to be maintained to give you maximum efficiency. Here are some tips on how to maintain your wall fountain.

Get to know your wall fountain. This may seem obvious or even unnecessary considering the fact that it took less than one hour to install it. It was just a case of put it in position, add water and switch on, right?

Well, thatâ??s true but just because it was easy to set up and you are already feeling the benefits of it, does not mean it should just be left to its own devices. It may take one or two days to really get to know your wall fountain. If the fountain came with a manual, I suggest taking some time to sit and relax by the fountain and read it.

Maintain the correct water level. Although the fountain has its own reservoir to store and circulate water from it will, over time, lose a certain amount to humidity. It will not take too long to figure out how much water is used in a day or week.

It is important that the water level remains at the recommended level and the pump is fully submerged to avoid damage to the pumps motor. The pump is located in the reservoir or the base of the fountain and must remain primed with water at all times.

Keep the wall fountain clean. It is beneficial to you to keep the bowl of the fountain clean. Aesthetically, a wall fountain bowl that is full of debris is not a pleasant site. Debris that is allowed to sit in a fountain can cause all sorts of problems.

Leaves that fall from neighboring trees if the wall fountain is outside, or from house plants if you have an indoor wall fountain, will clog the pump and cause it to malfunction or not function at all. Debris in the water may also cause staining on the interior of the bowl.Â

Periodically change the water in the fountain. After a while it is often best to change out the water in your wall fountain and put fresh water in. I put fresh water in mine three times a year and winterize for three months.

Some wall fountain owners use distilled water because it does not contain any impurities. Adding distilled water to a large wall fountain may become costly, depending on the size of the fountain. An alternative is to use a water purification additive such as Protec which will remove impurities from the water.

Winterize your wall fountain. If you live in an area where temperatures drop below freezing (32f / 0 Celsius) and your wall fountain is outside in the garden or on the patio, it is advisable to turn off the power to the pump, remove the water from the fountain and drain the pump.

If your fountain is small enough to move, you may want to bring it in to the garage or shed. If it is too large or you want to leave it outside, you may want to consider covering it to protect it from the ravages of winter.

If you regularly maintain your wall fountain, it will last you for many years and you will reap its benefits.

Taking care of your water fountain during winter months can be difficult. If you keep your garden fountain in the outdoors, you risk damaging it with harsh weather conditions and poor water circulation.

Garden fountains are expensive and it is important to maintain them to maintain a beautiful looking and refreshing garden water feature for the next season.

Here are the 6 easy steps to effectively maintain your water fountain during the months of winter.

1) Drain all the water and clean it thoroughly.

2) Take apart different pieces of your outdoor fountain and place it in a safe place. If it is not possible for you to disassemble the fountain because of its size or location, considering placing it under a shed or in a weather controlled storage room like a garage.

3) Clean the pump and remove any debris that might have accumulated on the pump filter.

4) It is critically important to store your pump in the right place. It should be stored in an indoor place, preferably in a water bucket or container. Most of the pumps fail because of the air gaps and tube dryness issues.

5) Cover the fountain with a canvas weather proof material to protect it from harsh and damaging winter weather.

6) If you decide to keep your garden fountain in the outdoors, it is of utmost importance to cover the base of your fountain with absorbent materials like rolled towels or blankets. This is to protect the fountain basin from cracking from the water that turns into ice and expands.

7) When you assemble your garden fountain in next season, make sure you power up the pump in water and test it to remove any air gaps that are created in it. Do not assemble the fountain without testing and removing any air gaps in your fountain. Taking care of this upfront will save you from the hassle of fixing any pump issues before the tedious task of water fountain assembly has begun.

Following these simple and easy-to-implement steps will ensure a long life of your garden fountain. Small cracks and scratches are normal for an outdoor fountain, what really matters is the smooth and free flowing water passage for easy water circulation, a healthy pump, and a leak-free basin.

Finally, if you really miss your garden fountain during the winter months, consider looking into getting a tabletop fountain or a wall fountain to create an indoor oasis during the months of winter.

A wall fountain adds beauty and relaxing ambiance to any place. The sound of steady cascading water is very relaxing. Installing one does not require so much work but you must assess how the different components fit together before the construction begins.

The tools needed are: a drill, screws, screw driver, tubing, strings and the Fountain (Note: this construction is not for a mirror or glass wall fountain)

The main components are: a mask, a basin with a built-in pump, and a decorative device or rosette. The fountain works as follows.

1.) Initially the water is in the basin and it is pumped into the mask.

2.) The water passes through the rosette or any spout in front of the mask as a tiny stream into the basin or series of basins and goes back to the basin where the pump is.

3.) The pump in the basin pumps the water back into the mask and the cycle is repeated.

Once the place where the wall fountain would stand out had been chosen, try to figure out the ways in which the plumbing and electric wires would not show off. This is necessary if the basin is a separate part from the fountain. If there is no access to the back of the wall the best alternative is to run the plumbing and electric wires up the inside of the wall.

In the case of a brick wall or concrete, make a cavity by removing some bricks or concrete from the wall making a room for the tube. The height of this cavity must be from the bottom of the basin to the overflow of the mask. A larger tube must be used to fit-in a smaller tube for the circulating water.

Again another cavity is needed for a tube where electric wires would run. Restore the wall to its former look as much as possible. It would not be appropriate if you have constructed a wall fountain nicely but have made the wall behind it ugly.

The task would be easier if the wall is accessible at the back and you can follow these steps.

1.) Drill a 1st hole through the wall at the position of the mask.

2.) Drill a 2nd hole at the bottom behind the position of the basin.

3.) Staying in front of the wall drop a string through the 1st hole to the back of the wall, and pull it toward the front wall passing through the 2nd hole at the bottom.

4.) Tie a string to a tube of an appropriate size.

5.) Now go to the back of the wall, pull the string up through the 1st hole returning the string to the front passing through the 2nd hole at the bottom.

6.) Enough tubing for the outflow (mask, rosette or spout) must be taken into consideration. Cut the excess after the exact length is achieved.

7.) Drill a hole for the electric wires just enough for the plug to go through it. It will be no sweat to let it through the wall to be plugged to an outlet.

8.) After the holes and tubing have been set, it?s now time to connect the water tubing to the pump in the basin.

9.) When you hang the wall fountain on the wall, see to it that the hardware used is strong enough to support 50 lbs. weight.

10.) All you need is to supply the water, plug it in and you have a running Wall Fountain!

Make sure that too much water isn?t? going out of the basin because of splashing. The overflow must be close enough to the basin to prevent water from draining. This may cause damage to the pump. Use the flow adjustment feature of the pump to regulate the flow of water in your wall fountain.

Regular cleaning is always a must to extend the life of the pump. Changing water regularly would prevent dirt and bacteria build-up.
