The Portland Water Fountains are the focal point of many of the cities parks and squares and give the place a real feel of class and distinction. This is almost a unique quality that sets Portland apart from many other cities in this region and in the US.

Water is part of the way of life for the people of Portland and with the city being surrounded by rivers it can be seen why they are so keen on water features. Some people suggest a city square lacks something if there is not a water fountain as the focal point. This gives someone something to enjoy all year around, in the summer the cooling water can be a welcome rest bite for the tourist or city worker and by winter the fountain can become an ornate feature that can brighten up the darkest of skies.
