Improve Your Garden By Including A Water Feature

A great method for enhancing your garden is to install a water feature such as a fountain or garden pond. These enhancements are both soothing and visually pleasing. Adding a water feature can be quite easy, relatively inexpensive, and will add significantly to the ambiance of your backyard.

I have discovered that there is very little that is more relaxing than resting on a bench in my backyard garden retreat and listening to the tranquil sound of my garden fountain while I read the newspaper or just close my eyes and “chill”.

Fountains and water features are most often added for the aesthetic and audible peacefulness . they furnish. It is incredible how just being in the presence of an active water feature provides a healthy positive energy.

Are you involved in the practice of Tai Chi or some other form of yoga or introspection? The constant sound of flowing water is precisely what many people need to enable them to focus on spiritual pursuits.

Indeed, just being in a garden with an active water fountain provides a meditative experience, even if you’re not particularly trying to do so. I highly recommend it to anyone.

After deciding to add a garden water feature, be sure to take your time choosing a style that will fit in well with the entire garden. If you will be using any other decorative pieces (e.g., benches, chairs, gazing balls, bird baths, etc.) you should make certain that the fountain fits in well with your all round garden design. Does the fountain appear to be an organic component of the area or does it seem out of place in the garden?

If you have trouble determining whether the fountain will be a good fit you might want to get the assistance of someone who has a better feel for design elements. Perhaps a friend or family member has the talent needed to make an informed decision. Or you could take a photograph and show it to the fountain retailer, either in person or online, and ask for guidance in finding the perfect fountain for your particular garden.

Another consideration that you will need to address is the approach you will use to supply electrical current to the fountain’s pump. There are quite a few fountains available today that are powered by solar energy. This might be a good solution if you live in an area with lots of sunlight. However, if power will have to be delivered from your home circuit, you will have to run an electrical cord to the fountain.

Using a common extension cord is without a doubt not a good idea. Not only would it look bad but it would also be very unsafe. A possible solution would be to purchase an extension cord that has been specially designed to be buried. It can be installed with minimal work by cutting a small slit trench from the house to the site where the fountain will be situated.

Having a water feature in your garden is not only calming, it also adds character to what otherwise would be a rather basic landscape. Fountains are offered in all price ranges so there should be no problem in picking out an affordable fountain and installation plan.
